A Ministry to the Mentally Handicapped

The Gems & Jewels ministry was a ministry started by Dr. Les Hobbins, Kathy Flickenger, and Laura Seimer. It started with just a handful of members, but has now grown to become a fully functional ministry!

Because the directors, Bruce Minnich and Laura Sancrant, both have mentally handicapped siblings, they understand on a personal level the needs that these precious people have.

Lewis Avenue Baptist Church is a church that allows all to come, and that includes the people that are sometimes shunned from society for no reason. Our Gems & Jewels staff go out and visit these people every week, by making personal visits, sending cards, and making phone calls to each and every one.
